Because He Overcame

As the back-to-school season approaches, I often recall the comforting image of my parents sitting down with my sister and me, praying for our protection throughout the school year. As a child, these moments didn't mean much to me. However, as I grew older and began to see the world through a different lens, I quickly understood their significance.

During my school years, I started to experience anxiety, worrying about my safety and my little sister's safety. Questions like, "Am I safe?" and "Is my sister safe?" would plague my mind. The thought of not being able to protect her if something were to happen was overwhelming.

But as my relationship with God deepened, He showed me a comforting truth: because He has overcome evil, He has the power to protect me and my family from harm. This reassurance is beautifully captured in Psalms 91:9-10, which says, "If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent."

These verses bring immense peace to many lives, reminding us that while we are not enough on our own, with God, we are secure. Knowing that we can call on Him for protection not only gives us peace of mind but also helps us remember that He is in control, not us.

As you embark on this new school year, remember to lean on God for protection. Trust that He is watching over you and your loved ones. Let this truth ease your anxieties and fill you with a sense of peace and confidence. With God as your refuge, no harm will overtake you.
