Holy Shift

My mom was recently telling me a story and my first thought was a selfish one, saying how could they not have that or why wouldn't they do that? Truth is my entire life I've been raised in a home where almost all of my needs were met and I grew up to understand how to take care of myself and my siblings properly. To my eyes, it was beyond to believe that someone couldn't do the same. I was truly confused about this concept. But then my mom said something very important i was looking from my own eyes and my own perspective which caused me to be judgeful and shocked. But when we look from God's eyes we can have our perspective completely changed. Instead of thinking about what's wrong with them, we can think about how could we help them. How could we add luxury to their own life? Or even how can we pray for them.

The truth is, as humans, we’re inherently sinful, and our natural lenses are not like God’s. But with a "holy shift," we can adopt a Christian, God-like worldview that changes how we see life and others in it.

Let's take the story of the good samaritan in Luke 10 we open to a man asking God how can a sinner inherit eternal life and God answers him like always a parable. We learn about a man who has been beaten, his clothes taken, and robbed. Two Godly people (Priest and Levite)  passed him by but a Samaritan someone who was supposed to have animosity with Jews. Stopped, helped him up, bandaged his wounds provided him with a place to stay and food. Most of us today wouldn't even do that for our mothers let alone our opps. A Samaritan helped a jew not because he would reap a benefit but because he was looking from the right perspective. He didn't go up to the man and “Say dang your dirty and you smell let me leave you”. But instead, he took care of this man.

It’s easy to see things only from our perspective and be judgmental and harsh. But being truly Christ-like means stepping out of our lenses and into God’s—a God who sees through mercy and grace.
